All brands offered at The Skin Wardrobe take their responsibility to protect the natural world seriously, and have integrated this into their production processes and business practices. In fact, we learn a lot from the innovative approaches our brands take to minimise waste and support the environment. For example:

Maria ÅKERBERG is a pioneer of organic skincare, having launched her first products over 25 years ago. From the outset, sustainability was deeply ingrained in her business, with a strong commitment to innovative environmental practices to reduce waste, energy and increase recycling. 

(M)anasi 7 is a beauty brand founded on 7 ethical and sustainable practices.  All products are produced in small
batches to minimise water consumption and waste, while supporting small-scale organic farmers. It also operates an upcycled and zero waste ingredients and packaging programme for its newly released Microbioskin™ skincare collection.

Lifelong is a fully sustainable brand. Lifelong products
are powder based - you simply add the water at home. As water is the heaviest component to ship, by removing it Lifelong reduces carbon transport emissions by a staggering 94%.  

Lernberger Stafsing have teamed up with The
Perfect World Foundation - a non-profit organisation working to protect and save at-risk wildlife. LS donate profits from sales of their best-selling S.O.S Barrier Repair Cream to support the work The Perfect World are doing to save bees and
other pollinators.

The Skin Wardrobe is thrilled to offer an innovative recycling solution for your beauty, skincare and make-up products.  The Beauty Box Zero Waste Bin™ system is an all-in-one recycling solution from TerraCycle®.  TerraCycle® takes ‘hard-to-recycle’ items and turns them into raw materials that can be reused instead of being sent to landfill. 

What does ‘hard to recycle’ mean?

Items that are ‘hard to recycle’ are those that cannot be placed in your home, or curbside, recycle bin. They often contain components that council recycling systems do not accept. 

Always check for the recycle symbol on the item itself.  If you are unsure if it can be placed in your home recycling, check your local council website for guidance. 

Curbside vs Beauty Box

Single component packages (such as plastic shampoo bottles and caps) or double component packaging that can be separated (such as a glass pot with a plastic lid) can be placed in your
curbside recycling.  

The Beauty Box Zero Waste Bin ™ caters for more complex items where the components cannot be separated -  your mascara brush for example, or our make-up compacts with mirrors and other spring load components. 

Bring your empties in!

Next time you are in our Studio, remember to bring your clean, empty ‘hard to recycle’ items and place them in our Beauty Box Zero Waste Bin ™. TerraCycle® will collect them from us and take care of the rest. 

If you live outside the Auckland area and are unable to make it into our Studio, please check your local council website for guidelines on how to dispose of  ‘hard to recycle’ items in your region.

Our signature packaging is beautiful and minimalist and uses only locally produced, recyclable or biodegradable materials. We also offer 'eco-packaging' option at the checkout which reduces further our packaging and uses self-closing FSC® certified paper from responsible sources.
